Beehives are kept in the orchard to help with the pollination of the apple tress in the spring and from the hives produce our own honey and beeswax. We currently have 9 colonies all in National beehives.
April update. The bees have been flying when the weather is warm enough but I am still waiting for better and warmer weather to have a look through the beehives. With the nearby oilseed rape about to flower and the apple and pear trees soon to blossom we will be looking at a nectar flow and as the colonies build up, honey in the supers.
